Description
Barleria obtusa is multi stemmed, rounded, small shrub, the size of the plant is determined by the environment in which it grows. The soft, hairy green leaves are oval in shape.The flowers are borne on the top part of the branch and are tubular, flowers can be blue, pink or white. The seed capsules becomes woody when mature and explode open to disperse the seed on the ground.
Natural Habitat
Barleria obtusa occurs naturally along forest margins in the summer rainfall region of South Africa.
Use in Landscape
Barleria obtusa can be planted in mixed beds or on their own, under trees or in the full sun. They work well on embankments, slopes or even in Loffelstein walls, they can also be used effectively as hedges.
