Description
A medium sized, deciduous tree which usually has a single trunk and can have a broad upright or a dense rounded crown.
Its bark is light grey and smooth with dark green hairy leaves which become yellow before they autumn, the new growth is lush green with flowers that are small and yellowish.
They are then accompanied with the same coloured fruits which make it a haven for birds.
Natural Habitat
Found in a variety of habitats all across South Africa and even in Zimbabwe. They are found in forests, grasslands, and the bushveld.
Use in Landscape
One of the most popular trees in South Africa. Used abundantly in home gardens for shading and wildlife attraction. Also used well as a specimen tree, parking lot tree, on the sidewalks and parks of all sizes. It can also be used in containers.
