Description
A very large shade tree which is pyramid-shaped. Large, bright green, palmate leaves turn to warm autumn colours. Flowers are insignificant red clusters which form a brown, ball shaped fruit (seed pod) The grey bark appears blotched due to peeling effect
Natural Habitat
Possibly European, believed to be a crossbreed between the oriental plane tree and the American sycamore, however, its origin is uncertain.
Use in Landscape
Commonly used in cities across the world because of its resistance to air pollution and for urban shading. They work well in large formal garden and parks, as street trees and informal screening in large areas.
