Description
A semi-deciduous tree which can be multi stemmed to give the appearance of a large shrub with a dense neatly rounded crown. The leaves are large glossy-green to pinkish-red while the flowers are yellow and are arranged in multi-branched sprays.
The fruit is fleshy and its colour differs from pink to red-brown and it displayed in heavy bunches.
Natural Habitat
Its distribution is naturally from Swellendam to KwaZulu-Natal to Limpopo. Though its habitat ranges from forests and forest margins to riverine bush and rocky slopes. Most widespread in moister areas.
Use in Landscape
Used primarily as a shade tree because of its size. Because of its neat form and beautiful show of autumn colours it can be incorporated into different landscaped areas and features.
